Shore Street and the Reaper
Shore Street and the Reaper
Shore Street and the Reaper. Behind the Reaper is the Ship Tavern and The Anstruther Fish Bar. Both are local landmarks on Shore St. The Reaper is the Anstruther based Scottish Fisheries Museumís Flagship. Built in the NE ( Scotland ) in 1901 from Larch planking carvel fashion on an Oak and Larch keel and frame. Built for the North Sea Herring fishing she worked out of the Broch until 1912 when she moved north to Shetland. She saw service during WW2 off the SE of England as a balloon anchor. Back to Shetland after the war then bought by Zetland County Council in the late 50's for local use. Now restored back to her 1901 design she looks fantastic.
