The famous whisky brand is owned by Diageo who are proposing to close the bottling plant in Kilmarnock and throw 700 out of work. The effect that this would have on the town is pretty obvious. There is a massive campaign to save the plant, and a distillery in Port Dundas, but the suits remain unmoved. They will be OK.

"Keep Johnnie Walker in Kilmarnock" is on all the official welcome roadsigns on the roads into the town.
