Logie Coldstone Parish Kirk
Logie Coldstone Parish Kirk
The C listed kirk, now no longer in use as such, stands at the crossroads in the middle of the village. This is the back of the building. Compare with NJ4304 : Logie Coldstone Church which is the other side. The kirk was built in 1781 when the parishes of Logie and Coldstone were amalgamated. The story goes that the ministers of the two former parishes set out from their respective kirks and walked towards each other. The new kirk was built on the spot where the two ministers met. It was altered in 1876 to designs by A E Duguid of Ballater, who added the bell tower, vestry, porch and gables to give the building its present form. In 1993 it was converted to a private house, and it has an indoor swimming pool.
