When agriculture was more labour intensive, Romney and Walland Marshes were more heavily populated and church attendance was more or less compulsory. Services are still held at St Thomas a Beckett - once a month. The outer shell was a 1909 repair and protection job, sheltering the medieval wattle and daub beamed building within.
