Approaching Dunstanburgh Castle
Approaching Dunstanburgh Castle
Even today, on a wet September morning, the uphill approach is a long trudge. Imagine what it would have been like in 1316, when the castle was completed, and you were arriving not as a friend of the occupant so had to approach under a hail of arrows.
