This cairn to the memory of two Highland colonels killed at Waterloo was erected by the Marquis of Huntly in August 1815, Col. John Cameron of Fassfern, of the 92nd regt. (Gordons) was killed at Quatre Bras 16th June 1815 and Col. Sir Robert Macara of the 42nd regt. (Black Watch) at Waterloo on 18th June 1815. Sir Robert was 'pierced through the chin until the point of the lance reached the brain'. The cairn on the east side of the summit ridge of Torr Alvie is stone faced on the east side with a plaque inserted in a hollow.
