Westmeston Crossroads
Westmeston Crossroads
The original east-west route ran along the current B2116 then headed right down Underhill Lane whilst the north-south route was a droving route heading down from Downs then along the course of the B2116 and Spatham Lane. Around 1820 the east-west route was turnpiked but diverted here to run north then west into Ditchling, the current course of the B2116. Underhill Lane has become a narrow lane whilst The Street is a dead end for traffic though the track continues on as a bridleway.
