Blenheim Palace
Blenheim Palace is the only non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title "palace" and is one of England's largest houses. The Palace, situated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, was commissioned by John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, and built between 1705 and circa 1724 to a design by Sir John Vanbrugh and Nicholas Hawksmoor.

The Formal Gardens of Blenheim Palace owe much to the 9th Duke of Marlborough who, in the 1920s, commissioned the French landscape architect Achille Duchêne, to design this elaborate water parterre on the west front of the Palace, comprising ponds, fountains, and statuary.
