King George Avenue, Newbury Park
King George Avenue, Newbury Park
This is King George Avenue, which is nothing more than an access road owned by Sainsbury's to the Newbury Park branch of their supermarket (formerly a Trebor sweets factory). It is quite a pleasant road to drive down, especially because of the fact that it is tree-lined. It passes alongside the Central Line as it leaves Newbury Park station and heads for Barkingside. The brick bridge in the background carries Perrymans Farm Road (a cul de sac off Horns Road, ending just after the bridge). Behind the tall trees high up on the embankment is the former King George Hospital site (my mum was born there!), now a new housing estate. King George Hospital is now located on Barley Lane in Little Heath, a little further up the A12 towards Romford. View taken looking south-southwest.
