Warehouse at Wappenshall Wharf
Warehouse at Wappenshall Wharf
The two storey warehouse was built in 1837 for the transhipment of goods between the narrow tub canal and the new Newport Canal and widened Shrewsbury Canal. Boats entered at either end with cranes to lift the goods through trapdoors in the floors. This building is believed to be unique on the canal system and is now leased by the Shrewsbury and Newport Canals Trust from Telford & Wrekin Council. The canal basin in front of the building has been infilled.
