SW3832 : Tregeseal stone circle

taken 8 years ago, near to Carnyorth, Cornwall, Great Britain

Tregeseal stone circle
Tregeseal stone circle
Originally one of a pair of circles, this ring is perhaps more properly referred to as Tregeseal East. The remnants of the western ring were completely destroyed by land clearance and ploughing in 1967. Another name for the ring is the "Dancing Stones" after the legend telling of a circle of girls being petrified for frolicking on the Sabbath (which legend has several other local connections). In the distance is Carn Kenidjack.
