Hayling Island: The former railway bridge
Hayling Island: The former railway bridge
Viewed from Langstone Bridge, this is all that remains of the bridge that carried the railway from Havant to Hayling Island. It was the cost of essential repairs to this bridge that was cited by the British Railways Board as the reason for the closure of the line, which happened in 1963.
