Having followed the public right of way from SN7309 : Capel Y Gwryd past SN7309 : Ruins of old Fever Hospital I got to a low point on the hillside where the visible path I had been following completely disappeared. This is usually a bad sign and sure enough the field became very wet and boggy.
The stile showed me where I could have gone but I turned home without ever getting to the river.
