Legend has it that Swansea was named "Sweyne's Ey" by the Vikings - after Sweyne Forkbeard, a 10th century Viking king. See Link
The Guildhall was built with quite a bit of Viking detailing to hark back to Swansea's past. Here is an example of the faces on the keystones of the doorways.
