Littleport railway station photo-survey (10)
The passenger crossing at the down (north) end of Littleport station. The only entrance to the station is onto the down platform and there is no footbridge so passengers for up (southbound) trains must cross on this crossing. The green light on the board indicates when it is safe to cross. Images from the CCTV camera on the pole are displayed in the nearby signal box (see [
Link] ).
Littleport station is on the ex-Great Eastern Rly route from London to Kings Lynn. It has two platforms, one for up (London-bound) traffic and one for down (Kings Lynn) traffic. The route between Cambridge and Kings Lynn is now known as 'The Fen Line' and passenger services are operated by First Capital Connect. The line is electrified on the 25KV AC overhead system and passenger services use electric multiple unit trains of classes 317 and 365.
