This is on the moor a couple of miles North from Hutton-le-Hole.
It's easy to make out the line of a very ancient route over the moor here, which at this point runs alongside the modern road.
There are records in Northallerton describing a sum of money allocated to set up stone guide posts including this one in the early 1700s.
