Rhos Llawr-Cwrt
This photograph shows two pingos. Pingos were formed under periglacial conditions at the end of the last glaciation period. An underground spring forced up the permanently frozen surface soil layers above, froze into an ice core and ultimately formed a mound. As climatic conditions became warmer, there were left circular ramparts of soil with a depression in the middle.
