Two pingos
This is Llawr-Cwrt Nature Reserve. Pingos were formed under periglacial conditions at the end of the last glaciation period. An underground spring forced up the permanently frozen surface soil layers above, froze into an ice core and ultimately formed a mound. As climatic conditions became warmer, a circular rampart of soil remained with a depression in the middle. The nearer pingo has water in it while the further one is merely soggy.
