NT4908 : Silage store, Newton Hill

taken 8 years ago, near to Dodburn, Scottish Borders, Great Britain

Silage store, Newton Hill
Silage store, Newton Hill
The road to Penchrise passing a pile of newly wrapped silage bales. The normal hay or silage harvest was lost due to continuous rain, and a big effort was being made to get a second crop during a week of anticyclonic weather in mid September. September grass is not as nutritious as the grass cut in early Summer, but is still useful, and will save buying in expensive feed during the winter.
