Remains of Old Wharf, and mound with posts
For the main discussion of the wharf, which is now represented only by some lines of posts on the shore, see NS4573 : Remains of Old Wharf at Bowling (where the background details are also described).

The sandy area to the right of the far end of the wharf was, in the latter half of the 19th century, occupied by a bowling green.

On a large mound at the near end of the ruins of the wharf, a pair of posts can be seen; the posts are about six metres tall, and perhaps (I am speculating) supported a sign associated with the wharf. The mound is similar (except in size) to one that is located about 550 metres further upriver: NS4573 : Marker post on the shore.
