The Wash Monster parked
The Wash Monster is an amphibious vehicle based in Hunstanton. Today, it was taking tourists on a trip out to a distant sandbank while I was walking out to more accessible ones. The subject location here is a rough estimate: distances are hard to judge on the sands.
The Wash Monster :: TF6640
"The Wash Monster" is an amphibious vehicle operated by Searles Sea Tours LinkExternal link. It operates out of Hunstanton, taking tourists out onto the sandbanks and transferring them to the company's other vessels.

The monster is an ex-US Army LARC-XV (Lighter, Amphibious Re-supply, Cargo, 15-ton capacity) built in 1967 for landing supplies on beaches too shallow for conventional landing craft. This makes it perfect for the shallow waters and sandbanks of the Wash.
