Percy Topliss's Cottage
Percy Topliss's Cottage
This cottage below the Lecht was inhabited by the fugitive murderer Percy Topliss for a few weeks in April and May 1920. It was here that the "Monocled Mutineer" shot at the local constable and a farmer when they approached the hut. Topliss fled south and was shot near Penrith, Cumbria a month later.
