Archer's Hill Gate, Wentworth Castle grounds, Stainborough
The gate marks the point where the old public road left the estate and possibly commemorates Thomas Archer, the architect responsible for the construction of the baroque front of the mansion in the early 18C. The gate has been recently restored, which involved completely dismantling it, strengthening the foundations, and rebuilding it.
