SD9762 : Quarrying on Threshfield Moor

Quarrying on Threshfield Moor
Quarrying on Threshfield Moor
Coal mining on Threshfield Moor was finally abandoned in 1905. The moor is still littered with spoil heaps, workings and dangerous shafts.

However, this is the bed of a tramway which appears on the 1907 map as going to a quarry. The other end of the tramway is at Skyrethorns where it joined one coming from Threshfield Quarry which then joined the railway line at the long-closed Threshfield Station.
