The Tower is in the adjacent square, SD0448, where it was photographed by contributor John Illingworth, who states that it was built as a survey tower to aid the construction of an aqueduct around 1854-60. If so, the small, squat tower raised upon a mound of earth to the left, would probably be part of the aqueduct's works.
