Tomb in St Helen's churchyard
Tomb in St Helen's churchyard
This somewhat crumbling tomb is the last resting place of Richard Minor Dunn, who died in 1829 aged 27. A large tomb for one so young, but he had a wealthy benefactor - his uncle of the same name, a 'Gentleman' from Derby. Both are interred here, along with the younger Richard's wife Dorothy and their son. The family were originally nailers based in and around Dudley. Originally the tomb had railings around, but like so many, they were removed for the war effort during World War Two.

My thanks to Steve Dunn (descendant) for the information above.
