GWR 2-8-0 locomotive at the National Railway Museum
Class 28XX locomotive no. 2818, built at Swindon in 1905. Used for hauling heavy freight trains, this one was withdrawn in 1963 having done 1.5 million miles [about 2.4 million km], mainly on coal trains from South wales to London and iron ore trains from the Midlands to South Wales.
