Watford station (Metropolitan Line)
Watford station (Metropolitan Line)
The branch from the Metropolitan Railway main line to the Hertfordshire town of Watford was a joint venture between the Matropolitan and the LNER. When trains began in 1925, about half of them were Metropolitan from Baker Street and half were LNER steam trains from Marylebone. The latter, however, were not popular and were withdrawn in 1926, leaving the line solely to the Met.
According to present plans, this terminus will close and trains from Baker Street will be diverted along a new spur after Croxley to join the former LNWR Croxley Green branch, a new station being provided at Ascot Road, and will thence run into Watford Junction.
