Viewed from the west side of Glead's Cleugh you can clearly see the artificial banks and ditches of the Iron Age hill fort otherwise protected by natural steep sides of its location on a natural spur of Akeld Hill, the lower cairn of which can be seen behind NT9529 : Cairn on the subsidiary summit of Akeld Hill
