SN8355 : Irish Bridge in upper Cwm Irfon, Powys

taken 15 years ago, 3 km from Abergwesyn, Powys, Wales

Irish Bridge in upper Cwm Irfon, Powys
Irish Bridge in upper Cwm Irfon, Powys
This shows the easternmost of the three Irish bridges allowing the Abergwesyn to Tregaron scenic mountain road to cross the river before ascending the famous "Devil's Staircase". The river level is low. It hadn't rained for over a week when this image was taken. After heavy rain, the water floods across the bridge, which is then fordable for a while, but in rising waters the utmost care and judgement is necessary.
