Mill Hill East (Dollis Brook) Viaduct
Mill Hill East (Dollis Brook) Viaduct
This viaduct carries underground trains across the deep valley containing Dollis Road and Dollis Hill Brook half way between the stations of Mill HIll East and Finchley Central. This is a view vertically up one of the piers on the north east side of the viaduct adjacent to Dollis Rd. The grey pipe carries rainwater from the track level down to the drains at street level. The photo shows the highest point above street level of the whole London Underground system. The track is 18m (60 ft) above Dollis Rd. It is located on a branch that was formerly part of the Edgware, Highgate and London Railway and it was opened in 1867.
