Beech pollards on White Moor, New Forest
Beech pollards on White Moor, New Forest
White Moor is an area of heathland in a shallow valley bottom, between wooded areas on the higher ground. In the central area of wet heath there is an island of ancient woodland containing a good number of beech pollards (like those shown in this photo) as well as holly, silver birch and oak. These beech pollards are over 300 years old.
