Toddington: Railway line towards Angmering
The railway arrived here in 1846, built by the Brighton & Chichester Railway, which amalgamated with several other railway companies in the same year to form the London Brighton & South Coast Railway. This view was taken from TQ0303 : Toddington: Toddington Lane level crossing. Note the 70 mph speed restriction sign. Care was taken to check that no trains were coming up behind the photographer before the image was quickly taken.
