Church Hill
Church Hill
This cross is at the site of the original Saxon church of Alnmouth, built on this hill around 680. The original course of the River Aln to the west and south of the hill can be seen to the right. By the time this course was diverted by the storm of 1806, the church was a ruin. The cross marking the spot is recent.
