NO7057 : Montrose Viaduct

taken 8 years ago, near to Montrose, Angus, Great Britain

Montrose Viaduct
Montrose Viaduct
The northernmost of the two viaducts crossing the exits from Montrose Basin. (The southern channel at Ferryden has been filled up). The original viaduct was built by Bouch, but after the loss of the Tay Bridge, the North British Railway had to rebuild the crossing. The original was used for testing the design when investigating the disaster. The crossing is single track.
Montrose basin is an important wildfowl site, there are a lot of eider on the river here.
