The Pepperpot on Bridestones Moor
The Pepperpot on Bridestones Moor
This rock, of Jurassic sandstone, resembles one of the great rock figures of Easter Island. It is one of a curious mass of rocks left by erosion of the softer mass once surrounding them, amid a moorland nature reserve. The area was left to The National Trust in the mid-1940s, and can be approached from Low Staindale car park, whose postcode is YO18 7LR for sat-nav purposes.
