When Ashton Market Hall burnt down in 2004 SJ9399 : Ashton Market Hall a temporary "Phoenix Market" was constructed on the Old Cross Street car park. The rebuilt Market Hall opened in November 2008 SJ9399 : Ashton Market. Almost a year later the Phoenix Market is being demolished.
