Sea defences, Withernsea
Sea defences, Withernsea
Withernsea is protected from the ravages of the North Sea by a concrete sea wall in front of which is a band of rock armour [seen here] to prevent the waves attacking and undermining the sea wall. Defences are completed by a series of groynes to help keep the beach from moving southwards.
