Rough grazing, Salsburgh
Rough grazing, Salsburgh
Much of the land north of Salsburgh was once a working coalfield and is covered in bings and the remains of mineral railways. The land is wet and frequently rashy. Hard going off the tracks, but a network of old roads and railways gives some entertaining walking or cycling.
There are now two masts on Black Hill. Work was in progress fixing the transmitter to the top of the new mast. Sections were lowered into place off a skyhook (with a helicopter) and there was a fair bit of banging as workmen were bolting them into place. They must have had some view from up there, but the exposure!
