SP0483 : Calliope?

near to Chad Valley, Birmingham, Great Britain

Calliope?
Calliope?
Well not quite. The various safety valve escape pipes and vent heads from blowdown receivers etc on top of the new boiler house for the University Hospital Birmingham. The building behind is Nuffield House - the nurses' home and named for Lord Nuffield the car maker.

PS - a calliope is a steam powered organ (rather than the more conventional air) and was particularly a feature of pleasure paddle steamers.
