Grave of the Glasgow-born engineer, Robert Stevenson (1772-1850), who, among other accomplishments such as draining Edinburgh's Nor Loch and planning the Edinburgh-Dalkeith railway, built 18 lighthouses off the coast of Britain. His first, erected on the Bell Rock off Arbroath between 1806 and 1811, was regarded as one of the major engineering feats of the age. He was the grandfather of the novelist, Robert Louis Stevenson.
