NS6891 : Summit Carleatheran Hill

taken 15 years ago, 3 km from Gargunnock, Stirling, Scotland

Summit Carleatheran Hill
Summit Carleatheran Hill
Cairn and trig point on the summit of Carleatheran at 485 metres on the Gargunnock Hills. The OS map indicates that the cairn is an ancient monument and I suspect that the name 'Car'(or Caer) indicates a fort whilst 'leath' means grey. Hence this would be the 'Grey fort'. An apt description. The location is a magnificent viewpoint.
