L9231 : Peat stack
near to Bealadangan and Nacrimina, Galway, Ireland

Peat stack
An excellent example of a peat stack - formed against a field-wall for stability and protection from the prevailing westerly winds. At present it is held down by a weighted net, allowing fresh summer air to circulate. In the background is the narrow inlet of Camus Bay.
