SO9600 : Thames and Severn Canal, north-east of Tarlton

taken 8 years ago, near to Tarlton, Gloucestershire, Great Britain

Thames and Severn Canal, north-east of Tarlton
Thames and Severn Canal, north-east of Tarlton
The bridge carrying the Tarlton to Coates road is just visible above the barrier across the canal at the left. The viewpoint is the Monarch's Way along which the future Charles II passed in 1651 on his way to exile in mainland Europe. The canal wasn't there then - it didn't open for another 138 years.
