Sadler House, Spa Green
The Spa Green Estate, located in the triangle between Rosebery Avenue and St John Street was designed by Russian emigre architect, Berthold Lubetkin, in the 1930s. This was part of the old Borough of Finsbury's plan to replace its slum streets and was the first modernist serial housing in Britain - although due to the war the buildings were not completed until 1948. Today, two-thirds of the flats (there are 33 in this block) are council tenanted, now under the Borough of Islington. The block is grade II listed.
