taken 15 years ago, near to Burbage, Derbyshire, England

Coal pit on Goyt's Moss
Coal pit on Goyt's Moss
This is one of dozens of small pits worked for coal at the end of the 18th century and into the 19th. They would have been worked either with a hand windlass or with a horse gin. Buxton is visible in the distance.
