SK0571 : Limekiln on Grin Low

taken 8 years ago, near to Buxton, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Limekiln on Grin Low
Limekiln on Grin Low
This is one of over 100 kilns on Grin Low. The volcano-shaped mound is the kiln itself, and the bank to the right is a causeway along which the limestone and coal would have been brought to be tipped into the top of the kiln. The town of Buxton can be seen in the distance.
