Shippea railway station photo-survey (11)
Details of the fencing and level crossing gates at Shippea Hill station looking east from the up (Ely-bound) platform. The gate at the end of the tapering picket fence gives access across the tracks for the signalman in the adjacent signal box: passengers, however, must cross the lines on the level crossing itself.

Shippea Hill is on the A1101 road and very few trains stop at this isolated fenland station which is approximately five miles east of Ely North Junction on the route from Ely to Norwich.
