Bury has an integrated transport interchange. The Metro tram from manchester terminates here & it is also the main Bury bus station.
Metrolink (Manchester)
The Metrolink is a light rail system. It has three lines converging on Manchester city centre from Bury, Altrincham and Eccles. The system is owned by the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE). The routes use a combination of old railway lines and street lines. The first line opened in 1992. The lines to Rochdale and Ashton have also opened
Two new lines are due to open by 2016 to Manchester Airport and East Didsbury.

Bury Interchange
The Interchange was built in 1980 and combines the northern terminal of the Metrolink (Bury - Altringham line) and a bus station. When it was built the Metrolink was the railway station. The Interchange is managed by TfGM.
