Thames and Severn Canal passing place, near Tarlton
Thames and Severn Canal passing place, near Tarlton
This section of the canal had to be carved through bedrock, no easy task especially in the 18th century. As a result it is quite narrow. The passing place is just south of the entrance to the Sapperton tunnel and can be seen viewed from the opposite direction here LinkExternal link the description of which image speculates on the reason for the passing place at this location. The canal is the subject of a long term restoration programme. This is the canal's website LinkExternal link
